travale:
TCAF 2013! YEAH! As always, what a great con. I was a little sad I had to turn down my table this year for another commitment, but man it was nice just wandering around today completely stress free! It was so nice seeing so many of my comic pals again that are scattered across the globe. Such talented pals I am so lucky to have! Also finally got to meet in person some rad online pals of mine! Polly, Jones, Emmy, Cathy, Kevin, Joe, IT WAS A PLEASURE!
I am hijacking Rose’s TCAF post because she took so many great photos and we were together the whole weekend.
TCAF is always a lot of fun, but this year was something exceptional. We couldn’t table because of family obligations on Saturday but we got to go to the Comics vs. Games show and TCAF on Sunday. And honestly, not tabling was great because we could go around buying stuff and talking to people.
Highlights:
Comics Vs. Games was a great show full of great artists, but you should look up Lindsey Collins (linzb0t) who did a really amazing piece for the show.
Dinner with Dave (pic 6 with me), John Green, Raina T, and Gina. We do it every year but it’s always a lot of fun and we get to talk about comics and such in a really in depth way. It’s really interesting to see comics from varying points of view in the industry, seasoned pros to newbies.
Talking with Shelli P (pic 9, adventure time) she is one of the nicest people ever. It’s always great when someone who’s work inspires you is also an awesome person.
Being introduced to people by Emmy Cicirega as her traveling doctor that she’s known since birth and who actually helped deliver her with my assistant Harold.
Dinner with Cathy (cathyboy) and Kevin. They are a blast to talk with and super talented people. Cathy also has the tiniest sketchbooks filled with drawings. It’s insane.
TCAF is about comics, but it’s also about friends. New and old. I could give you about 50 more stories of awesome people I met or talked to again this weekend. It feels like every second table at TCAF is someone who we knew. If you ever get the chance to go I HIGHLY recommend it. And the only sad thing about TCAF is it isn’t bigger to fit even more friends!
